Focus on Trails

​

Keynote Speaker: Doug Beck, Outdoor Recreation Program Manager, Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands.

​

Doug administers the Maine Trails Program (MTP) that stems from passage of the Trails Bond. Doug will discuss the MTP that provides $30 million in State funding through 2034. Up to $7.5 million per year may be awarded to trail projects to leverage at least at least 3 million in public and private matching contributions.

 

Presentation 2: Jed Talbot from OBP Trailworks.

Jed will cover recreational trail design and maintenance including trail planning process, site assessments, tools and construction techniques.

Conservation Commission Share Time: Each attending conservation commission will share through a spokesperson what and how they’ve been doing and any concerns or lessons learned. Attendees of past annual conferences have found “share time” invaluable.

Networking Lunch: We will be offering lunch along with an opportunity to network with other conservation commissioners.​                                                                                                      â€‹

Location: The conference will be in the Morrell Meeting Room at Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick located at 23 Pleasant St., which is on the corner of Pleasant St. and Middle St. After passing the front of the library take an immediate right on Middle St. The entrance to the Morrell Meeting Room fronts Middle St.
